FAQ
Fractional CFO questions, answered
What owners usually ask before working with a fractional CFO. Do not see your question? Call (480) 747-3935 or send us a note.
The short answer
A fractional CFO is a part time CFO who helps you plan cash, build budgets, read your numbers and prepare for big decisions. At AZ Easy CFO that is Chris Badulescu, CPA, working with Arizona businesses on a flat monthly fee quoted after a free consultation.
About fractional CFO service
What is a fractional CFO?
A fractional CFO is a part time chief financial officer. You get senior financial planning, forecasting and decision support on a monthly schedule, without the salary and benefits of a full time hire.
How is a CFO different from a bookkeeper or CPA?
A bookkeeper records and reconciles transactions. A tax CPA prepares returns. A CFO uses accurate numbers to plan ahead: cash forecasts, budgets, KPIs, pricing and funding. Chris is a CPA who focuses on that planning work.
What size business is a good fit?
Most clients are established small and midsize businesses, many with $1M or more in annual revenue, plus growing businesses preparing for that stage. Your goals matter more than your size.
When should I hire a fractional CFO?
Common signals are cash that surprises you, growth that feels harder to manage, a big decision like a hire, location or loan, and reports you do not use. Read more in when a small business needs a fractional CFO.
Cost and getting started
How much does a fractional CFO cost?
It depends on how often we meet, the size of the business and how much forecasting and reporting you need. We quote a flat monthly fee in writing after a free consultation. See what a fractional CFO costs in Arizona for how firms typically price it.
Is there a long term contract?
After the initial setup, engagements are month to month. Project work, like a lender package, is quoted as a defined project.
What happens on the free consultation?
Chris asks about your business, your goals and what keeps you up at night, then explains how he would approach it. There is no pressure and no obligation.
What do you need from me to start?
Read only access to your accounting software, recent financial statements, loan and lease details and a conversation about your plans. Files move through a secure upload portal.
Working together
Do I have to use AZ Easy CPA for bookkeeping?
No. You need accurate books, but they can come from your current bookkeeper or in house team. Many owners do use both firms so Chris already knows the numbers.
Can we meet in person?
Yes. Meet at our Chandler office on S. Alma School Road, or by video or phone. Many clients across Arizona and in other states work with us remotely.
Do you prepare tax returns or run payroll?
No. We coordinate with your tax preparer and payroll provider so plans and filings line up.
What software do you work with?
Mainly QuickBooks Online and NetSuite, plus spreadsheets and forecasting tools. You always get files you can open and read.
Can you help us get a loan?
We prepare the financial side: statements, projections, debt schedules and supporting reports. The lender makes the decision, and we do not act as a broker. See funding and growth planning.
